Teacher Resources

Teacher training conferences on the EU
Since 2006, in partnership with the Hansard Society, the UK Office of the European Parliament has run day-long training conferences for teachers. We are provisionally planning to organise further conferences in latter half of 2010.
The purpose of the conferences is to provide teachers with practical ideas for delivering engaging Citizenship lessons on the European Parliament. Each conference is made up of a series of workshops that introduce teachers to resources including The European Parliament: What’s That? and demonstrate how they can be used in the classroom. This training coupled with the free resources given to teachers on the day means delegates will be ready to deliver more innovative lessons the next day.

EUROSCOLA brings together about 600 students from all over the European Union for a day in Strasbourg discussing aspects of European integration, in multilingual working groups of 100 students.
Each group chooses a spokesperson to present its conclusions to the other students assembled in the Chamber of the European Parliament. The participants then vote on these conclusions. Most Euroscola days are for students aged 16-18 but a day each year is set aside for the younger, 14-16 age group.
The European Parliament offers a small subsidy towards the cost of the journey to Strasbourg.
